No special skills are necessary for
Valley Food Bank volunteers.

Volunteer FAQs

Who can volunteer?
We have received help from volunteers of all ages and walks of life. Children are encouraged to participate in food bank volunteer activities if accompanied by an adult. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to serve at the Valley Food Bank warehouse.

Can I bring a group from my church, school, business, or club to volunteer?
Yes. Volunteering is a great group activity for your church, school, business or club. Some companies will make a monetary donation to the food bank for every hour their employees donate to food bank service projects. Please check with your human resources department at your workplace to see if they have a volunteer rewards program. Church youth groups and school groups teach values of community service to their students through volunteerism.

Do you provide the necessary training and equipment for volunteers?
Yes. We provide the training and equipment you need to safely perform your service.

Do you need help only during the holidays or are there opportunities to volunteer throughout the year?
We need a lot of volunteer help for our holiday events. But that’s not the only time we need help. We provide services to the pantries throughout the year.

What volunteer opportunities are available?
At the Valley Food Bank, there is a place for everyone with time to give. Volunteers process and store the donated food items for later distribution. Spoilage is discarded and suitable items are inventoried and properly stored for later distribution.

What if I would like to help in some way that is not listed on your volunteer opportunities?
If you have a skill or talent that you would like to donate, please complete the volunteer sign up application and list the skills and talents you have to offer. You can also call or email the director of the food bank.

How do I become a volunteer?
Contact information is listed below. Please feel free to call, but because of the nature of the warehouse, email is the most effective communication tool.
